About Us
The beef-thing started several years ago. I was driving my “49 Ford 9N tractor, mowing the pastures on out new spread every 10 days and figured it would make more sense to get some steers, let them do the mowing, and then “eat the tractors”. It was a little more complicated than that. But now, being a compulsive work-freak, I have developed a small farm that yields some pretty impressive "tractor meat". I am also now have a Certified Naturally Grown farm (CNG) - click here to see my profile page on their website.
We now have an abundance of darn-near organic grass-raised Highland beef. The only non-home input to my system is neighbor’s hay for winter feed, a few mineral blocks, and a bit of electricity to power the irrigation pump. The purchased hay is turned to manure, composted and fed to red-worms, then tilled into the vegetable gardens or dispersed on the pastures.
But the finest part is sitting with Carolina on our deck or looking through a window (the paddocks have us surrounded) and just watching the cattle be cows. Very relaxing; often humorous. We are absolutely driven to give them the best and they give us the best in return.
